Your Warranty

LIMITED 2-YEAR & 10-YEAR “NO QUESTIONS ASKED” MATERIALS WARRANTY

Our goal at Columbus Painting is to be the most trusted painting company in Central Ohio. This two-part limited warranty helps provide you with peace of mind.

Valid warranty claims require Columbus Painting customers to:

• Pay the contract’s price in-full
• Retain a copy of the original contract
• Retain a copy of your check or other evidence of payment in full
• Pay for all labor used to perform the repairs
• Make the property accessible to Columbus Painting crews to inspect the property and perform any warranty work and/or repairs

Please note:

• This warranty provides you with certain legal rights. However, the duration of implied warranties and the ability to limit or exclude incidental or consequential damages may vary by jurisdiction. Therefore, the limitations or exclusions described herein may not apply to you depending on local laws.
• This limited warranty represents the sole express warranty provided by Columbus Painting, superseding all other warranties, both express and implied. Coverage under this warranty is limited to services rendered by Columbus Painting to the original contract holder as identified in this agreement. Columbus Painting will not be responsible for any incidental or consequential damages, nor for any damages surpassing the original price of the contract. Any modifications or extensions of this warranty must be made in writing and signed by all contract parties.

Subject to the limitations set forth below, for a period of two years from the date of completion of the work described on the front of your contract, Columbus Painting will repair peeling, blistering, or chipping paint resulting from defective workmanship.

Where Sherwin-Williams product is used, Columbus Painting will additionally cover the cost of the replacement coatings for the failing area for up to ten (10) years from the date of completion of the work.

Warranty Limitations 

Our Limited Two-Year Warranty does not cover:

• Any work where Columbus Painting did not supply the paint or other materials
• Any work that was not performed by Columbus Painting
• Varnished or stained surfaces
• Surfaces made of (or containing) galvanized metal
• Repairs to horizontal surfaces or any surface that, by virtue of its design, permits moisture to collect. Surfaces include, but are not limited to:
  • Decks, railings, stairs, porches, roofs, window sills, and wood gutters
• Exact paint match as environmental conditions will affect the color and finish of all paints over time
• Bleeding caused by knots, rust, or cedar wood
• Cracks in drywall, plaster, brick, or wood
• Peeling, blistering, or chipping caused by:
  • mill-glazing from smooth cedar
  • ordinary wear and tear, such as fading caused by exposure to sunlight
  • abnormal use or misuse
  • peeling of layers of paint existing prior to the work performed by Columbus Painting
  • structural defects
  • settling or movement of the structure
  • moisture content of the substrate caused from under or within the painted surface
  • abrasion, mechanical damage, abrasive cleaning, abuse, or damage resulting from use of chemicals or cleaning agents or exposure to harmful solids, liquids or gases
  • damage or defects caused in whole or in part by reason of fire, explosion, flood, acts of God, extreme weather conditions, misuse, alterations, abuse, vandalism, negligence, or any other similar causes beyond the control of Columbus Painting

Repairs under this limited warranty will be performed only on the specific areas where peeling, blistering, or chipping has occurred and only to the level of surface preparation described in the preparation section of this Contract.

Additional Coverage Details

Our 10-Year “No Questions Asked” Materials Warranty is valid for original Columbus Painting customers, as we are the “purchaser” of the coating and apply it to your Home.

If the coating peels or blisters during the Term of the purchaser (as defined below), Columbus Painting will work with Sherwin-Williams to present proof of purchase to the store where the coating was purchased, and Sherwin-Williams will supply replacement coatings to the purchaser in a quantity that is sufficient to repair the peeling or blistering or refund the original purchase price of the material.

For the purposes of this 10-Year Warranty: “Home” shall mean a single-family residential dwelling; and “Term” shall mean the period commencing on the date that we purchase the coating on your behalf and continuing 10 years into the future.

This Materials Warranty shall not apply to any defect or damage resulting from improper surface preparation by Columbus Painting, structural defects (see above), failure of a previous paint, or improper application of the coating, as described in the directions on the label of the paint’s container. This Materials Warranty may not be transferred or assigned to future homeowners.

COLUMBUS PAINTING’S ENTIRE LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED EXCLUSIVELY TO PROVIDING REPLACEMENT COATINGS FOR THE COATING WHICH PEELS OR BLISTERS OR THE REFUND OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE.
